Evaluation Question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

In today's lesson, we watched each others' final videos as a group and filled out feedback sheets for each other person or group's video. I intend to use the sheets I was given as well as other verbal feedback that I have been given on my video.a
To start with, the general consensus of the feedback I have received is good. I received an average of 3.95/5 stars from peer ratings (of 14 ratings), and there are some people who haven't liked it or who have been confused by the narrative and that's ok.

The main issue from my audience feedback is that people couldn't understand the narrative that I put into my video, the first 2 people who watched it (outside of the group lesson) understood that the narrative was about a character that was "losing their mind" and that the storyline in the video was quite similar to that of Fight Club, which I have referenced as one of my inspirations for the idea before.

I think that some people also didn't quite pay attention, from the group lesson I received a few comments abut improving the lip-syncing shots.. except I have no lip-sync shots in my video...
Other than that, I had a few other things suggested about improving the focus of some of my shots, which I noticed myself during editing, especially in the first shots of myself at the start of the video.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have the good comments, I was given compliments on my editing, my colour correction, my use of filler shots, matching my editing with the songs tempo, my range of shots used, and the use of the VCR theme as well as the mise en scene.

There was one person who disagreed with the decent few who said that my video needed to have lip-syncing added into it, they pointed out that it makes it different to the other videos, and I think that they would agree that adding in lip-sync shots would have broken up the storyline that I used a bit too much, this is because the shots that I used over the chorus show the differences between the two characters and show that they are separate from each other.

In conclusion, I learned that I made a good video, and hat people liked it, however the narrative that I came up with was a little too complicated for some people to understand, even though in the last part of the video I intended to try and tie it all together.
